Chaos and Beauty

This is pretty much how the first few weeks went with Jax.
When you finally get to sit down and eat you fall asleep at the table just a few bites in. :D
You spend a whole lot a time sitting there rocking or feeding the baby so your forced to sit and marvel at the tiny miracle he is.
And then, when he's done eating, he looks up at you with that milk-drunk look and smiles before his eyes slide shut, and for the moment you forget all about how tough those first few weeks with a newborn can be. :)
(The above pic reminds me of this pic of Aubrey at about the same age.)

Thankfully, Gramma Jo was able to come for 2 weeks to keep us functioning semi-normally, so the kids were able to keep up with their school and the laundryroom did not get hit by a laundry tsunami.

Break-time on one of the warmer days.
Little sis has been working hard at keeping up with big sis.
While big bro is working on skills to impress his little bro with. :D
Jax had his first sink or swim experience in the BIG bathtub, since the bathroom is warmer than the kitchen sink.
Apparently it felt like he was drowning at first.

He liked it.
 We steamed him thoroughly.

He spends most of his time wrapped in wads of blankets and layers of clothes so it was fun to have him unwrapped for a while. Having a winter baby is a change for me.

This is Aubrey's new camera face. :D

When we looked out the window to this heavy coat of freezing fog we couldn't resist going out for a walk down to the lake.

I love the way freezing fog looks!

Somewhere in all that fog is our house.

Everything has these super fine little crystal daggers.

Sisters
We made snow angels on the frozen lake.

Found several ice fishing holes that had frozen up again.
Hunted for mischief.
Wrote our names in the powder.
And watched Grampa D get a little daring. :D
CRACK! He got everyones' attention when he had to jump quick!
And then he demonstrated some Ice Surfing techniques. :D
Shaking the powdery crystals onto unsuspecting kids. :D

 Sword fights with the Bulrushes.

We found some enormous bird tracks.
These being the regular bird tracks we saw plenty of...
...and these being the enormous ones!
Anybody want to try and identify them for us?  Maybe a Heron or something.

See, I was there too. :)  (photo courtesy of Mr. Wise Guy)

3 Cold kiddos = time to head home to Gramma and Jax....

...who were staying snug and cozy at home.

This pic reminds me of this pic of his big brother at that age-ish.
I have to say, my last 3 kids look alot alike as babies. Kate was the unique one. :)
