The demise of the dresser

So we got a new bedroom set back in Nov. and Mr. Wise Guy was going to dispose of his old dresser which he's had since childhood. The wood was nice and sturdy even though some of the drawers weren't working so well anymore so I salvaged it with many ideas running through my little brain as to things to be made with all that lovely wood.
Turns out I ended up turning it into a "Mousie Housie" as we call it.
This is the main floor created from sawed off drawer ends. Mr. Wise Guy contributed plenty of his time to help with the basic frame of the house.
I wanted to make it fold-up-able so that made it a bit more work that it would have been otherwise.
Then I slowly but surely began to make progress in the room decorating area.
This hopes to be the living room and kitchen/dinning room.
The curtain fabrics are hanging over the walls currently.
Then we had a little fun with the modeling clay and made some dishes and cookies to start with.

After that came the slide which Kate LOVES. :)

Then some dear relatives sent a special surprise gift in the mail with a little dining room set.

Then we had to make a toilet as that is a great necessity. Miss Kate is continually making frantic rushes to the potty for her mousies, and they often barely make it in time (according to her).
Of course there had to be a bathtub as well. :)
The bathroom is still a work in progress with no flooring and curtains plus still in need of many other accessories that I have in mind(as are all the other rooms) .
More toilet pics

We've made small progress on the master bedroom and the kiddie mice sleep in there for now. A closet is currently in the works but no pics yet.

Mommy mouse is the only one who has PJ's yet...the rest sleep naked because "they CAN'T sleep in their clothes!".
Oh, and we made a few toys for the little mice to play with too.
The living room has yet to be worked on at all.
So there you have it!
It has an upper story to it but that will have to be a later post.
I'm sure this will be a continuous project throughout the winter and spring.
Happy day to ya'all.

So cool! I love Calico Critters, and there are so many different ones to collect. I don't have any, but when I was growing up my friends had them. :) Lovely house, you are so creative!

Why thank you all! I'm having so much fun with it!
Lisa~ HA HA.
I have so many ideas I want to do for it that I would love to just spend all day working on it. I have a hard time balancing my time between it and the kids/hubby. I'm trying to just take it easy and go at it a little at a time. Spending more time with the kids would be more likely to earn me a title like THE BEST MOMMY. ;) ...but Thanks. :)

Very cool! What does Taeo think of it?? So fun to make all the little pieces, I remember using the clay little things in those shelves we use to make. Thank goodness the Mousies finally have a potty, sounds like that's been a great need for a while!! :D What did you use for it's hinge? What fun Kate!!

Should say: " to make little things for the shelves..."

sjo, I used wire which i wrapped around a toothpick a couple times leaving each end of it poking forward like prongs. I slid it off the tooth pick and poked the prongs into the clay before baking. one for each end of the lid and ring. When finished I slid the toothpick through all sets of hinges and mounted it on the toilet.
