Blame her Uncles

When we were out at Gramps & Grams this thanksgiving the guys spent some time shooting and Katelynn was in the house saying *BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM* when she would hear the gunshots. She has since been using it simply to describe anything that makes a loud noise. I had to laugh this morning when a big flock of geese flew over (a frequent occurence since the lake is so close) making all kinds of racket. Katelynn inhaled with an 'oh' sound, cocked her head to the side, listening intently. Then she wandered over to the sliding glass door and peered out and said *BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM*. :D Sounds like something her uncles would teach her. ;) Who knows, maybe she'll be into duck hunting when she gets bigger. haha
Yesterday, while I was trying to get some sewing done, she went to the pan drawer under the oven and got these two little corningware dishes. She came strolling back into the living room with one in each hand occasionally swinging her hands together (thankfully not too hard) so they would make a loud noise and smile gleefully and say *BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM*. She also says that when she is 'helping' in the kitchen and accidently drops the ceramic lid to one of the canisters that sit on the back of the counter, while she is trying to sneak things out of them.
Today was beautiful weather so we went for a stroll to the park and back, with a lot of wanderings in between. She isn't even interested in playing on the toys...just the large area to wander in without having to be pulled out of someone elses yard. Better yet, any poor fenced in doggie who will bark at her, she will stand there 'barking' back while the dogs just go nuts. She does not care how ferocious they sound either (because there is a fence, so who cares) and believe you me, there are a couple of beefy chocolate labs who just sound terribly fearfully scary. They jump at the fence and snarl and growl and bark and paw...and she just stands there and barks at them and then looks at me and smiles and barks some more. I alway end up having to drag her away so the dogs can have some peace...as well as the surrounding neighbors
Miss Kate wandering. :)

One of the other new sounds she has is a really weird one. Every so often she hears the train whistle and I tell her that is a train that says chcka, chcka, chcka, chcka, WOOOO-WOOOOO. And we try and copy the whistle noise each time it sounds. So now when she hears a train she trys to do the chcka, chcka sound... which comes out very interesting. Sort of a sudden and abrubt CHT, along with a cock of the head, followed by *BOOM*. Amazing how she'll hear the train even when I don't until she brings it to my attention.
She is trying harder to say words that I say and I am learning more of her interesting ways of communicating what she wants. This morning I asked her if she wanted blueberries and she thought about it for a minute and then looked at me and smiled really big and said 'Buu-ue'. Often she will use the same intonations and amount of syllables as me to reapeat something I said but the sound is pretty confused. She'll get there eventually. :)
Ya'll have a good day now. I gotta get back to my sewing while Miss Kate is sleeping.
