Puddles and Planting

One lovely June day we enjoyed lunch out in the warm sunshine, accompanied by the wonderful scent of the red roses blooming their hearts out on the arbor/trellis.

Only to have the sky change on us that evening and dump a sudden and torrential downpoor, the likes of which we haven't seen since we moved from Oregon. :D

The waterfalls spouting off the ends of our downspout-less gutter were pretty amazing and left some lovely puddles, which the kids immediately tried out for the fun factor.

Turns out this little one would suck your boots right off if you weren't careful.
And the large one worked out well for rinsing off the gooey mud.
When trying to get one boot out...
The other would get stuck, and it made such strange sucking slurping noises during the whole process.
These things bring joy to a childs heart. :)
Then it was time to run through the big one for the final rinse.

Ooops! Its over his boot tops! :)
Splish, splash, splish! What a fun and unexpected evening entertainment it was.

We have since moved our strawberry patch to the other side of the grass strip to make way for  a new sandbox.
Which means that our tiny garden has shrunk to half its former size.  The kiddos still had a grand time planting it tho.
Our main crop is beans this year. ;)

It was fun to watch each ones different planting styles. :)

We tried out 2 varieties of beans. Kate planted the white ones and Elliott planted the brown ones.
We also did a little bit of carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, & peppers, and called it good.
Now it looks like this! The pepper plant is struggling along but the rest of the stuff is thriving.

Spring has sprung...

At least Miss Kate is pretty sure its summer time. :)
Its been hot enough to enjoy chocolate dipped ice cream cones! SOO delish!
Kate eats hers very carefully and cleanly...
like a true GIRL. :)
While Tay-O eats his like a true BOY... with reckless abandon...
and enjoying every bite. :)

We started a spring project back when Boppa and Gramma Jo were here. Building a play house in the yard.

We've been working on it here and there when we have time...mostly weekends. The kids have really enjoyed watching the process and of course, helping out ...whether or not their help is needed. :)
Painting has been the biggest challenge, so I 've yet to find a good time to finish the trim.

The "Inspectors"came to check it out after Mr. Wise Guy cut out the 4 windows.
Then Miss Kate spent some time sweeping the floor
and dusting the window sills to get rid of all the sawdust.

The flowers are all in bloom out in the yard and Tay-O has enjoyed pulling them all to pieces...
much to the dismay of Miss Kate. :)

The kids have also been thoroughly enjoying the MUD since we started the sprinklers up and have been watering in the garden. (we don't have natural mud around here!)
Miss Kate made herself a little mud hole to splash around in.

She was a bit distressed over the splatter on her nose though, and I had to wipe it off for her. :D
When the garbage truck went by the kids had to take a break from the mud to go watch it...although Tay-O is not quite tall enough to actually see anything over this part of the fence. :D
I was able to get a favorite photo out of the deal though.
Sweet muddy baby feets!

With all the sunshine we've had we had to have some kiddos over to enjoy the outdoors with us!
The Twins were double the fun! :)

Little K was helping me plant flowers while enjoying the dirt.
If you look closely you can see the ring of dirt around her mouth from her "snack" of dirt. :D
Little K and Little H vying for the best spot to spy on the neighbors. :)
Such Cuteness!
While the kids have been busy exhausting themselves outside I have managed to get a few things done as well. Mostly outside stuff so far, but I've started on some sewing projects so hopefully I'll have a new project post in the near future.
Shortly after she declared that she was NOT sleepy and didn't need to take a nap today...
I found her asleep on the doormat!!! How cozy. :}

A PEEK AT 1 OF MY PROJECTS
Yesterday morning I sewed this reversible hat.
It was supposed to be for Tay-O, but it fits both kids...and they both love to wear it...
so they take turns. :)
Today we are enjoying our last day of sunshine for the next couple of days, according to the weather forcast, so we're trying to make the most of it. We're off to the park!
Happy day to ya'all! :)

Note: I thought it was high time to get rid of the mice post and put something sweeter up...
so I did my best! :)
