Goin to Grammas House...and back at home again

WARNING: (very)Long Post

Well, it seems its been forever since I last blogged...But we sure enjoyed conference and staying at Gramp and Grammas for a week. (even if we did catch colds while we were there.) We got to be really lazy (this is mom talking can you tell?) :) and being somewhere fun was a good diversion for a grumpy toddler with a cold. The whole getting there was quite a trip though.

Thankfully Kate was able to sleep amid the noise of the airport since we spent a lot of time sitting in airports with all the delays from the weather and such.
I was soo thankful for this young man (he was 6 and 3/4 he informed me) who enjoyed playing with Kate so much and was very good with her. His mom said he loves little kids with the exception of his little brother. :) Typical boy. Anyway, his family was on the same flight as Kate and I while we were flying to Portland from Burbank without Mr. Wise Guy on Monday. They had the same layover and everything so it was very helpful as I was able to leave her with them so I could use the restroom and He kept her well entertained so I could sit and gaurd the luggage. We arrived on Monday evening and on Tuesday we went over to visit Cousins Phi and Leroy. This was the only day of the whole trip that I took any pics and even these were just afew.
Aunt Sjo made a very yummy smoothy for us while we were there.
Here's the mustache man.
An up the nose shot of shaggy Miss Kate looking like an orphan child since her mother was on vacation and hardly got her out of her PJs let alone brushed her hair in the mornings.
and little 'Oh no she's aiming that camera at me and I'm pantsless!'
By the time we headed back to grandmas house this little girl was exhausted. Less than 2 minutes down the road she looked like this. And so ended our trip to grandmas house
...as far as photos go anyway. :)
Thank you all for putting up with us for the week. We sure enjoyed getting to see you all and also being spoiled by grandma. :)

...AND NOW BACK HOME AGAIN.

This is how we felt on Monday morning.

Tuesday morning she slept in again, and when I finally heard some noise and went in to find her this is what I found...I left a tub of baby wipes on the desk next to her crib and she found it in the morning and unloaded it into her crib before calling for me to get her up. :) At least she only bothered to shred afew of them so I was able to salvage most. They just don't come out as nice as they used to. This morning, however she was in a much better mood and was sitting on the edge of the dishwasher door with her elephant, bouncing up and down happily watching me unload the clean dishes. I found a set of the beaters that go to the handmixer which I store on the bakers rack as it has its own storage case. Kate loves to play with them so I knew she would know where they went. I asked her if she could go put the beaters away for mommy and she hopped off her seat and marched over and plunked them into the case obediently...
(This is the only after shot of the back of her hair after the haircut...more on that later)
Of course I praised her up and down for following orders and she was soo pleased she had to clap and cheer for herself. Then when I started reloading the dishwasher with dirty dishes she went and got the beater to put them back in the silverware rack. I explained to her that we were only putting the dirty dishes in now to make them clean and the beaters were clean allready. She scurried back over to put them away again and then pulled a dirty spoon out of the mixer case that she had snuck in there when I wasn't looking and quickly went and dropped it back in the silverware rack. Apparently she actually listened to me. :)

Her next episode of the day was when I discovered she had a bit of a diaper rash (which she hasn't had since she was a baby) so I decided to let her run around without any britches on to let her air out. Next thing I know she runs into the bathroom with a basketball and I hear it drop and bounce across the floor echoing all the way. Apparently it scared her (the lights were out in there too so it was semi-dark) because next I heard her stomping in a puddle of water. yeah, good guess. I put her straight into the bathtub since she was overdue for a bath anyway.
She loves the bath toys Uncle AJ got her for her B-day.
She also likes to eat bubbles.

UH, did you say I'm growing a beard??
(Notice the bath pics are pre-haircut)
After her bath I decided it was time she had a haircut so I plunked her on the counter and gave her my cell phone to keep her still. One problem, I forgot to lock the keypad...
and I didn't realize it until I was half way through with the haircut.
She managed to send her daddy a text message that went like this:
3d3333p.Abj22aaaa22h4g.gmdawjtmkdakmm

And here she is modeling her new haircut.
(to see the back, which I only tried to even out with a tiny bit of trimming, you have to scroll up to where she was helping me put the beaters away.)
Aww Mom, do you have to take another picture? And she's off to play with Ellie.

Ya'll have a great weekend now. :)

The hair cut looks lovely. And the last bubble beard picture is great! HA HA the expression is just so funny. So fun to watch them catch on to what you tell them. Especially well their still in the wanting to please stage.
