Mish-mash

I thought I'd just throw a post up (not literally of course!) since its been so long and I've gotten way behind on stuff I intended to post. This is a lot of random pics of the kids doing the sorts of things they do when its freezing outside and we're shut indoors.

The #1 activity would have to be doing laps around the kitchen/dining/liv rm. loop. They like to put an oven mitt (yes I actually have 4) on each hand and do the laps waving like they're in some kind of parade every time they pass by me.

Since we had so many snow flurries during Nov.-Jan. the snowplow was seen often. It inspired them (which actually translates into me doing the actual work per their request) to slap together a cardboard "snowplow".
They got alot of mileage out of it and pretty much trashed it. I thought the video I was posting at the end was the "snowplow video" but found out otherwise after it was loaded and I didn't have time to redo. I'll probably post it later sometime for some entertainment for the 3 little musketeers that we miss in Portland. Then you can see what little imaginations can think up to make cardboard snowplows more exciting. :D
Both kids love to sing and have "bible readings" and since Kate is the leader around here Tay-O innocently follows her example. I came upon him one day all by himself by the head covering drawer in the living room singing away.
He's also into pushing dolly strollers around " The loop" with purses hanging from his shoulder or the stroller handle and often he talks on the phone at the same time. Anything that fits nicely up to the ear becomes a phone for him and he repeatedly says "Hi" into it and sometimes mumbles bits of this or that.
My Daughter wannabe. :D
When we explained one night (after a bible reading about sons and daughters) that Kate was our daughter and Elliott was our son Kate was very adamant that she wanted to be the son and Elliott could be the daughter. She has finally resigned herself to being a daughter but still lets us know that she'd rather be a son.

It is so nice when the kids get along and play well together. Some days I feel like they're constantly going at each other until I'm exhausted. Other times when they're being really quiet together and I rush to check on them I come upon them like this or something(meaning they are actually sharing happily without being commanded to do so!). So wonderful!!! :)
Having a "slumber party" on the living rm floor.
Kate likes to mother Tay-O which he doesn't usually enjoy. But sometimes when he is feeling unusually cooperative he will allow her to hold him on her lap and read him stories which just makes her day. :)
He let her read him several on this particular morning and I had time to dig the camera up and fire away.
He actually seems to be enjoying himself.
Kate is my most efficient helper these days though Tay-O is most often right there wanting to help in some way too. I think their favorite things are baking, unloading the dishwasher, helping with the laundry, or setting the table, but Kate loves to wipe and scrub and did an amazing job helping me with the kitchen floor the other day. Her comment as she was diligently scrubbing (which I happen to catch on video) was "This is hard work to do when I'm tired" followed shortly by "I bet Daddy's gonna be really happy that the floor is all cleaned when he comes home". She is also great at helping to tidy up the house as she knows where most everything goes...it just depends on how cooperative she is feeling that particular day. Yesterday when I was tidying up her comment was, "why is the house a disaster, mommy?". It actually WASN'T but apparently I say that way too often before picking up the clutter. :)
She got this beloved "Wormie" for Valentines Day and was trying her hand at photography. She took these next 2 all by herself.

We've been sick yet again for the past week with influenza and the day she first came down with it she told me she was going to go up and lay down (which is so NOT her) and when I went up to check on her I found she had tucked herself into bed with her beloved Wormie and promptly zonked out.
She spent alot of time laying in random spots curled up with a blanket and Wormie.
Elliott was the sickest of us all...
Not that excited about dinner time. :(
Thankfully we are all mostly better. Elliott and I both have a bit of a drip to our noses still but we're all feeling pretty good and actually went out to the park for awhile it the semi-warm sunshine this afternoon.

So here is the video I thought was the snowplow one but it is actually Tay-O practicing on the Wii Fit. :D This IS one of the things we do when trapped in the house so I guess it fits in here after all. Enjoy!

Keepin' up with the Joneses

We heard everybody else was sick so we thought we'd get sick too. Besides, misery loves company right?Miss Kate getting steamed Sunday night.
And feelin just plain miserable with a fever of 103.
(this was actually right after she had the chills and I bundled her all up and she just lay there shivering)
Heading to the doctor Monday morning where after hours of nurses and doctors and x-rays and waiting we were sent home with a nebulizer to use 4 times a day with Albuterol and a steroid to take twice a day to fix up her lungs which were extrememly congested.

Starting to feel better on her meds ...

but still content to just lay there.
And this...

was the morning after her first night on steroids. :D They said a possible side effect of restless sleeping. She was all over the bed and up and down tossing and turning all night long. (Daddy slept on the guest bed and mommy ended up with a bruise on her cheek)
She did much better after that first night, and has since slept fairly well, all things considered.
We are happy to be past the worst and slowly doing better. Energy is mostly back but she still coughs a lot, struggles to eat much and drinks only water.
Remember that empty lot across the road from our house... well, they've been doing some work on it the past couple of days and Miss Kate loves to watch the diggers and bulldozers. I'm just glad for something to keep her entertained while she is stuck in the house for a while.
She watched this little digger scooping dirt and then hauling it out of sight to an empty lot 2houses down from us for quite a long time this afternoon. And then the little bulldozer putted around for awhile. And since she was being entertained she ate her whole snack!!

So that was the big excitement of our day today. :) Can you tell we've been stuck home for awhile. I am sick now too, but just with a cold and it hasn't been too bad. Today is the worst so far and I've just been a bit congested with sore throats in the night and morning. Hopefully that means I'm just getting a light version. Ya'all stay well now, and have a good weekend. :)

Good Times & Bad Times

Well, we've been gone for awhile and it is good to be home again. We left home and headed to Vancouver, WA, Fri. the 17th. Staying with Mr. Wise Guys parents until Sun afternoon, at which time we headed to Kalamath Falls with my imediate family for a week long stay, returning home Sat. night. Sun was our potluck meal here in Moses Lake and then came a beautiful fall monday. It was amazingly warm out which is great since Miss Kate has taken a liking to being outside...all the time. She frequently leads me to the door and 'asks' to go out...and then gets upset if she can't.
Check out that high-steppin' gal. :)
So this lovely Mon. afternoon we decided to stop in and see A. Vi and Lil' Sweetpea.
(Isn't she just the cutest little girl)

And since it was so warm out we decided to take advange of the opportunity to go walking together.

We enjoyed a good long walk and when we got back to A. Vi Miss Kate had a fun time running around in the yard.

She found a new friend (the neighbors kitty) but she wasn't sure she liked this live version of her stuffed kitty.

She would sit back and look at it... then crawl away...and it would calmly stroll along beside her keeping pace with her

She would sit back and look at it again...

Try a not so gentle version of petting the kitty...

and finally...
Making pig noises at the kitty. :)

Which seemed to do the trick...
the kitty stalked away to befriend a friendlier sort of girl.

So ended our good times... :)

...And soon began our bad times. :(
That night i came down with 'The Flu Bug' that seems to be going around (so iv'e been told). I felt just miserably awful all night and the next day and the next night and the next day...actually i feel much better today than last night. My 102+fever finally left me in the night so i was much improved this morning...although i am still making numerous trips to the bathroom and have eaten a grand total of 1/2 cup of rice chex and a small portion of applesauce as my queasy tummy is still uninterested in food...besides my system rejects it just as fast as i eat it so why bother. I am apparently on a "Lose 5 pounds instantly" Diet. ;) If I just get the flu once a week i'll be skinny in no time. haha (So not worth it.) I am still in the low energy, lying around, don't-move-to-quickly-or-you-feel-Blaaa, stage of getting well. But at least i'm past the 'losing-it' part. :)

So on that cheery note... May the Lord preserve you all from this flu...and have a good rest of your week.

P.S. Miss Kate has not gotten sick so far...i am counting my blessings and saying my prayers. :)
Any other prayers on our behalf would be very welcomed. :) Thanks.
